This was a Christmas like no other in our family, for on Christmas Eve my much-loved maternal Grandmother, the ‘adopted’ Grandmother of my husband who never knew grandparents of his own, and the Great-grandmother of my children, reached the end of her life on earth.
She has left us with the memory of her constant kindness and of her undying faith in Christ. Tomorrow when we join to give thanks for her life, we will sing the songs she sang with joy throughout all of her days: songs of the love of her Saviour, Jesus the Nazarene; of the love of God the Father; of the love of her Redeemer.
As we seek to follow in her faith, we will trust in the quiet promise of Emmanuel, who is our Light in the darkness, and who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
